My key focus when teaching and giving workshops can be likened to teaching music. The process of learning and establishing a foundation is essential. To learn an instrument for example, one focuses on creating a clear sound, learning the notes, the scales, the rhythms and so forth. The continued application of one's efforts inevitably leads to a greater freedom to play whatever music one chooses, in whatever way one wishes.

I lay a strong emphasis on learning 'to see'. Regardless of what form of art one chooses to express them self through, seeing and understanding relationships is once again essential and will give one's work the substance and coherence they desire, even if incoherence is the desired goal! Ultimately it's a game of editing. In other words, it's not my place to interfere with an individual's aim or destination other than guiding the student to see more clearly and help to bring them closer to that goal...their style and statement is their own.

The learning is focused on the  human figure and most the courses are in this arena.

 

Courses take place primarily in my studio in Moss, a small and beautiful coastal city on the Oslo fjord in Norway. I also enjoy traveling and giving workshops/courses around the country and abroad upon request.
